Man Charged With Three Burglaries

Man Charged With Three Burglaries

A 50-year-old man was accused of committing a string of car burglaries in Trenton, New Jersey. After discovering stolen items from one car that were left in another burglarized car, police suspected that the same person committed three burglaries. The accused man has been charged with resisting arrest, possession of burglar’s tools and three counts of breaking into a vehicle.

Around 12:30 a.m., police officers received a 911 call concerning a suspected car break-in. When they arrived at the scene, the witness told them that the person who broke into the cars was not in the area. Police then conducted a search of the neighborhood before discovering a man walking along Abernathy Drive. When the man noticed police officers, he walked away from them.

Police called for backup and set up a perimeter. Police say they found the man on the 200 block of Sanhican Drive in a backyard. According to police reports, the accused man resisted arrest when officers attempted to detain him. He was allegedly carrying several items that had been reported stolen along with tools for car burglary.

Police have reported that the man in this case may also be accused of other burglaries that were reported in the area. Facing multiple charges, the accused may wish to consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney. An attorney may be able to build a solid defense based on a lack of credible witnesses. The alleged burglary tools may be common household items. A lawyer may argue that possession of these items is not sufficient evidence that a crime was committed.
