The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force has made headlines this week when they discovered a massive amount of street drugs being transported by a Floridian trucker. The driver was only passing through the state of New Jersey and pulling over at a rest area when a nearby police K-9 unit alerted his human partner that drugs were nearby.

The K-9’s partner, Detective Sgt. Joe Angarone approached the truck driver. According to the officer, the driver aroused suspicion by acting extremely nervous. The driver provided a Florida driver’s license and registration. He is identified as Frank Rosario of Kissimmee, Florida. The Narcotics Task Force decided to search the truck, and they were successful in seizing about 13 kilograms of cocaine and four kilograms of heroin. The street drugs were tucked away in the sleeping portion of the trailer. Police estimate the total worth of all the drugs to be around $2 million. Rosario was arrested and charged with multiple narcotic-related offenses, and police are continuing to investigate the incident.
