Two New Jersey Men Arrested For Drug Charges

On Feb. 15, two men were arrested on 14th Street in Bayonne after one of the men allegedly purchased ecstasy from the other man. According to reports, the first man was seen giving the second man money in exchange for five pills that officers believed to be ecstasy. When police entered the second man’s home, after seeing him sell the first man pills, he attempted to swallow them. Police prevented this from happening and retrieved the pills.

The first man, who reportedly tried to purchase the ecstasy, had an outstanding $1,000 warrant from Middletown. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and is currently out on bail.

The second man, who allegedly was selling the drugs, also had an outstanding cash-only warrant of $8,607 from Hudson County Superior Court. His charges include tampering with evidence and possession with intent to distribute within 50 feet of a school. Due to the previous outstanding warrant, he has been remanded to the Hudson County jail.

Drug charges are incredibly serious, and many convictions carry jail time. This is why it could be a good idea for someone facing drug charges to speak with a knowledgeable criminal defense attorney. A lawyer could help someone enter into a diversion program that reduces or defeats the charges. Additionally, an attorney might be able to help someone investigate if proper legal procedures were followed when they were arrested and charged because improper actions from police officers might lead to a dismissal of charges.
