Former New Jersey Serves Two Years Probation After Dui

Former New Jersey Serves Two Years Probation After Dui

When someone is arrested and charged with a drunk driving offense, they face penalties that can be very serious. Even when a person’s blood alcohol content is only slightly above the legal limit, they can lose their driver’s license, receive heavy fines or even face incarceration. You have the right to hire an experienced attorney to represent you, and this is the person who will be advocating for your rights.

A 31-year-old former New Jersey police officer faced serious consequences after he was involved in a car accident nearly one year ago that resulted in personal injury. It was later determined that the officer’s blood alcohol level was above the legal limit at the time.

The accident occurred on March 6, 2011 in Colts Neck. The former police officer’s vehicle collided with another vehicle being driven by a 41-year-old corrections officer on his way to work. When the two vehicles collided head-on, both drivers were injured.

After it was determined that the former officer was intoxicated at the time of the crash, he was charged with drunk driving offenses in Monmouth County court. This past December, the former officer was able to reach a plea agreement with the assistance of his attorney. The former officer agreed to plead guilty to drunk driving and assault by auto and also agreed to a seven-month license suspension.

The former officer was officially sentenced this week in the Monmouth County court. He received a probation sentence of two years. Although the young man agreed in the plea that he would resign from his position as a Manalapan police officer, he will not face jail time for the accident.
