Police Take One Man Into Custody For Robberies Seek Second Man

Police officers with the Franklin Township Police Department in New Jersey completed an investigation into recent burglaries on Oct. 24 and have taken one man into custody. At the time of this report, they were still seeking the man’s cousin. Bail for both individuals was set at $30,000. The one man, who was found at his father’s residence, remained in custody. Both individuals were charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief for both robberies.

The men were wanted for allegedly being involved in the robberies of two residences. One robbery occurred at a residence that had been for sale. They allegedly took copper pipes and caused approximately $2,000 damage.

From the second residence, which was being renovated at the time, they allegedly took tools and copper pipes. The damage they allegedly caused amounted to approximately $15,000. In addition, the man already in custody was charged with theft for removing an air conditioning unit from a residence. The authorities stated that both men were recorded via video surveillance selling the stolen items at a scrap yard.

Those who are accused of stealing face serious consequences if they are convicted. For example, they may face a jail sentence and a criminal record, which may make it difficult to find suitable employment in the future. A New Jersey attorney may be able to help someone who is facing burglary charges by providing a strong defense against the charges. For example, the attorney may be able to provide the defense through evidence collected from witnesses and police reports. If a conviction seems likely, the attorney may also try to have the charges reduced by having their client agree to pay restitution or to agree to community service in lieu of a prison sentence.
